Has anyone seen the Richard Dawkins OUT campaign ( http://outcampaign.org )? For those who subscribe to Richarddawkins.net, I am sure you have. For others, he's promoting the sales of t-shirts and bumper stickers with the scarlet letter 'A'. The campaign uses the phrases come OUT, reach OUT, speak OUT, keep OUT, and stand OUT. Some may think this is another way for Richard to make a few extra dollars from his atheist groupies. I think though it is a quaint effort, it is a start. In our everyday lives, we see crucifixes hanging from peoples necks, the damn fish on people's cars, billboards, etc. We know there are christians. It's time that people found out how many atheists there are and maybe a few 'in the closet' atheists will come out. I'd love to hear what you think.

Richard Dawkins campaign an excellent way to raise awareness. The U.S. public need an OUT campaign to enlighten the public to reason.
The more support the campaign receives - the better.

I think it's an excellent idea. Raising the public's awareness of us good atheist folk is a worthy cause. It saddens me that so many of us have to live a secret life about the way we rationally see the world in order to appease friends and family who still believe in fairytales...

I'm not so sure of this.

It includes a highly visible plug for Dawkins. Id rather have any movement be not about a single author.

A movement such as this has to start somewhere. Dawkins may as well give it it's initial boost. Do you recall the Bright movement a while back? I believe Dennet said it was 2003 but I always thought it was a lot earlier. Still, where is that today? We need to gather groups together.

I've gotta agree, the fact it's so about RD is REALLY bad, especially with the hatred he's gained in some religious circles.

URLs given should be to the campaign, or at least some large group. Not to the author who started it.

The Scarlet A is a nice symbol, but only if it's free of too much Dawkin's involvement.

Of course Richard Dawkins has religous circles hating him. He goes completely against everything they base their life around and hold dear. He does it with a level of intelligence that is intimidating to say the least. Bottom line is atheists should not have to hide or stay in the shadows of society, we all need some sort of median to get our "beliefs" respected for what they are. Dawkins is not the only intelligent atheist out there, but he's one who is willing to speak up for us all. The ball has to start rolling sometime and once it gets rolling, it will be hard to stop.

It's not just that he is an intelectual Atheist that seems to bother the god botherers, it's really seams just that we exist and speak out. They's preffer we stay in our spider holes I s'pose. Dawkins doesn't want to convert the masses, at least at this point, mostly he wants those that are already non-believers to stand up and be counted.
