I'm listening to the audio version of Julia Sweeney's Letting Go of God. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. My wife, who is used to hearing men talk about these ideas (like Dawkins, Harris, etc) really enjoyed a woman's point of view. I highly recommend it.
I hear she's making it into a movie - like an show of her one-person stage production of it.

The DVD is to be introduced at Freedom From Religion's annual meeting coming up soon. She released the CD with the text in book form at the Amazing Meeting in Vegas last year http://www.juliasweeney.com/letting_go_mini/index.html. Julia will be filming Letting Go of God in LA and has an invite to be part of that experience. http://juliasweeney.com/welcome.asp Tickets are a mere $10. I only wish I could be there. I'm on the list to get an early copy of the DVD. Her CD In a Family Way is excellent as well.

I only heard an excerpt of this on Ted.com . I thought it was phenomenal! And much agreed with Asprin. It is great to hear it from a woman's point of view, and even from a comical point of view. You hear bits and pieces of people's beliefs in musicals, plays, programs, but rarely an entire piece dedicated to it. Also, we get so many lectures and readings on our end. It's just nice to have some relief from the typical way we learn about atheism and the rest.

Ah shit, I just noticed the filming I mentioned already happened in May. I'm looking forward to the release of the DVD. We'll most likely play it to AofU monthly meeting.

I got a chance to see a live performance in Park City Last Saturday. Nothing beats seeing her live! Also got to meet her after the show. What a wonderful woman. I also met her daughter who is the subject of another of her Monologues In a Family Way. If you can't see her live, get her CD. You'll be glad you did.
