Disgusting.. Schools brainwashing children to believe in the magic man in the sky. While I admire the father for not forcing anything down his daughters throat and brainwashing her himself, he is, by allowing the school to brainwash her, complicit in her brainwashing. So, basically, the father is no better than the school... I'll say again.. Disgusting.

It is a shame. And education in the States, a shambles. My present wife has repeatedly expressed the thought that couples should be presented a book on how to raise kids.
Amongst my many tasks I have come upon Dr. William Fleet's approach to the problem.

I came to him at Meetup's national Atheist Message board. Though he insists that his free book be read front to back, I began at the last chapter to assess the time value before starting at the beginning.
I will be finding time and have started from the front. I emailed him and he has asked for an assessment of his writings when I have completed the tome.
He will not be a favorite on the John Birch Society list but, he moves in the direction that must somehow be implemented if we are to sustain ourselves civilly in the future. We must give up this desparate idea of ownership of our children. This will define "hard fight." I am skeptical unless somehow a common enemy of the race of man somehow demands a group hug. Hopefully not global warming, but that looks like the direction being taken.
I will be looking to see his views on the function of initiations over, to me, the weaker meaningless baptisms. I'm sure you are much more knowledgeble on this, Rabbi, than I.
