How do you respond to unsolicited emails proselytizing the graces of Jesus? I got two the other day. Though I had the time to sit down and reply, I decided they weren't worth the effort. The first was rather insulting to Atheists. The second was a poorly worded tirade on the old tired premise that evolution IS JUST A THEORY! You've all heard it all before. Anyway, rather than just deleting them both I replied with "Thanks for sending me the email joke. This one particularly cracked me up!" The first one replied with "If you thought that one was funny then this one will be a real side buster:" Then he sent the evolution tirade, verbatim. They must have a stock of them they cut and paste. I'm at a loss at exactly what they really expect to happen. Do they really think I'll drop to my knees shouting "Praise Jesus, I've now seen the light!!!"?

Some of them do, but they are usually the ones you don't wanna get involved with.

You may be right. I get a lot of email forwarded thru my Atheists of Utah account. That stuff duesn't get filtered. But then I'm not much of a wiz kid when it comes to these new fangled computer gadgets, [he says as he types on his Comadore 64]

Music fades in...

"I adore my 64, my Commodore 64."

la la la..la la..

Those were the very, very good old days indeed.

Good idea. Too bad all the religious emails come from my grandmother. I thought about emailing her back and telling her "Granny, cut that shit out" but I'm just proud she can work a computer in the first place.

PS-She's already gotten 2 or 3 viruses from these "Chrisitan" forwards.

Years ago when I was in grad school, I was walking to class and some guy was standing on something (possibly an actual soap box?), waving a bible around, and shouting about how we're all sinners. I thought about falling to my knees and exclaiming, "OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT! I'm a SINNER! I never knew it before but now that YOU'VE told me, I get it! SHOW ME THE WAY to Heaven!"

I decided I'd rather get to class on time instead, but a part of me wishes I'd done it.

I encountered such a preacher on campus back in the 70's.
He asked me if I "knew" Jesus.
"Do you mean in the Biblical sense?" Says I.
"Well of course."
"So you're asking me if I've fucked Jesus. No, I don't swing that way."
For some reason that left him speachless long enough for me to get on my way.
