Salt Lake Valley Atheists has on two occasions had the pleasure of having Will Bagley, author of Blood of the Prophets speak to our group. He is our resident expert on the Mountain Meadow Massacre. He really opened up my eyes. Utahans live in the shadow of this despicable event in our history. Local Mormons still deny it even happened, let alone the church having anything to do with it. They recently erected a monument at the site. There was an earlier monument erected a while after the murders and the church had it dismantled and the remaining bones at the site scattered. They'll deny that too, but they made the mistake of recording it in their own church records.

Now that the movie is out, I'm told it realy realy sucks. Shame too, I had high hopes.
