Sad but not surprising. Hell, just look at the last elections. Americans were more concerned what consenting adults were doing in the privacy of their own bedrooms than the war in Iraq. Many fundies will tell you that since Jesus is coming in the next 50 years, it hardly matters what's left of the earth. Wouldn't it be ironic if Jesus actually came and yelled, "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO MY PLANET?!"

Would it be ironic if the priests knew a solar eclipse was coming and took credit for saving the people by causing it to leave? Head choppin' usually does the trick. At least in Apocalypto.

Well put. I still can't figure out the mindset against gay marriage myself. After all, who cares what gays do, it's not degrading or devaluing my marriage. I could care less if Bill and Bob want to marry, the only marriage that concerns me is the one I'm in. As far as the planet, it's something that as a whole we must all share, so I would logically think that Americans would be more concerned with that. Guess it shows the level of intelligence and "open-mindedness" of the christians in this country.
