I know Jerry. I've flown and jumped with him. But I had no idea the depth of his personal life. The following is my review posted at Amazon.

Have you walked away from the best that could happen to you? Dr. Jerry Burgener almost did. Will the sometimes bewildering turns of your life finally lead to a rational explanation for those painful, frustrating, punishing relationships? Dr. Jerry rode his horse into the desert Southwest not expecting the revelations hiding within himself. A companion from his distant past waits for Jerry to make the last turn on the desert trail. Waits for the re-union long in the making. But, rounding the last bend, Jerry does not recognize the stranger before him. His memories long forgotten, Jerry is exposed to his past actions in as gentle manner as possible by his unrecognized friend, Tom.

How does a forensic psychologist, National Guard helicopter pilot, skilled skydiver and fixed wing pilot come to experience the most exhilarating, eye opening, spiritual events in his life? This is his story.

When told Jerry had written a book, I thought "Oh no. I'll have to bribe myself to get thru it." I did have to put it down 20 pages into the initial reading as the tears were flowing. The wife noticed I went to bed early.

The chord had been struck in me. My coal mine defenses were run over by the quiet, clear expression of frustrations in relationships over the years.

DESERT JOURNEY, a very special personal relationship comes to fulfillment in the Superstition Mountains.

Thanks Minorwork--looks like a compelling read. I've added it to the ever-growing list of good books to read.

I know the drill. I've 5 books open now. Lucky I'm retired. I don't know how I had time for work. Since reading Jerry's I now have William v Van Fleet to do. He posted at gnawed. http://homorationalis.com/default.aspx
I promised him a read of his free online book.

Jerry's drew me in. His situation is easily recognized in myself. I read to see what I was doing. Fleet's seems more a very concise text. Gotta get on it.

My own readings. God Delusion. Just finished The Path of the Masters by Julian Johnson. My postings reflect this reading. But mainly Johnson pulled together a lot of experiences and was identical to my philosphy. A necessary tool to basis in personal revelation of the worlds religions.

Some Charles S. Peirce, Hegel, Einstein, Heisenberg, Dawkins, Sean Carroll, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Had a job offer the other day. Told him if my wife found out I would flatten his tires.
