Wow, I'm not sure if I should take that article literally or if it's just sarcasm.

Unfortunately, this sort of thought is prevalent in many areas of the country where religion has a death-grip that only enlightenment could break. The major problem is to get people to break away from something that is comfortable to them and explore something alien.

This is true, however I doubt most theists would be willing to take a dip in the waters of doubt, people fear change.

I'd like to see a survey to back up the statement that "the majority of Americans would love to see atheists kicked out of America." If that's true, maybe someone could really make a valid case for asylum.

Naw, this woman is an idiot. Polls would most likely find small numbers supporting exile of non believers. As for the crime, this makes me laugh. Atheists in prisons at a 2004 poll had the number at .02% Maybe those from Soldotna Alaska are a bit more shentered.

I'd be more than happy to join you in Denmark! Maybe I could learn my grandmothers second language!
With regards to this letter, where was this posted? I can't believe that a newspaper editor would print such drivel!

Alaska, that explains a lot! After all this is the state that brought us Ted "intertubes" Stevens!

This is a manifestation of the sick belief that the worst sin is UNbelief...worse than murder, rape, slavery, you name it.
<BTW- Is this dogma not a strong sign of a clearly man-made religion?>

So, if we put forced prayer in schools and rid this country of atheists all the christians in the joint would not be pressured into committing crime and the US would be a better place? Bitch, please.
This woman does prove a very valid point... You can't fix stupid.

:D Oh that is good. And whether it was intended as sarcasm or not, I have actually heard this mentality expressed by a few Pentacostals I have been in contact with throughout the last decade or so. It may only be a small portion of the population, but for the love of everything, that entire minority must live in this tri-state area.

Stumpy, if I might add something to your excellent comment, I don't remember reading anywhere that crime was nonexistant in this country or any other, when there WAS prayer and religion all over the place. Furthermore, "under God" and God on all the money didn't start until the 1950's. I had to learn "the pledge" all over again when it was added. (Please no comments as to my age...).
