Well, I'm a youngster pushing 76. My father was a "fallen" Catholic and my mother was a Unitarian, as she put it, "Unitarians are Agnostics with a church."

In my late grade school days I was sent to Sunday school every Sunday. Neither of my parents ever went to church but my attendence seemed to be part of perceived "proper unbringing". I said no more Sunday school so was sent to regular church. First time the minister preached against science so I came home and said no more religion. There was quite a struggle for a couple of weeks but I got my way since neither parent was strongely motivated. Somewhere along here I became an atheist I guess. I couldn't see any reason to put up a false front so I freely said so and have ever since.

Well, I knew a bible thumper from work that used to missionary there. Said the power lines was 8 foot above the sidewalks. Later I went to an osteopathic doctor that had worked with my friend. Jackson showed me a few pictures. Looked pretty layed back.

Great site here. Some of the videos kinda' require a fast connection, but the words flow fine. Welcome. Ya' don't often get to be the new kid.

http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/112.gifWelcome Roy from another member in your age category. Our backgrounds are very similar; parents sent me to Lutheran Sunday school, but neither went to church. I stopped going, as I recall, after confirmation, and then later started again when I got married for the second time. It took me a lot longer to wake up to reality; I've always been a late bloomer I guess, but since leaving religion behind, I feel so much freer and life is a lot less cluttered. Hope you enjoy your visits here as I do.

Hi Roy,

I'm glad you're here. Now that he's here, I think we should all give something up for Lent--I'm letting go of my famously lame jokes.
