We know an enormous amount about the link between nutrition and health. But the real science has been buried beneath a clutter of irrelevant or even harmful information--junk science, fad diets, and food industry propaganda.

When the government introduced it's latest change to the "food pyramid", a few years ago, telling us what we should and shouldn't eat, there was a 20/20 or 60 Minutes or something like them, show about it. During the show an interesting piece of history was highlighted. The "food pyramid" that we were taught for the last 50+years was a result not of doctors decisions but a lawyer who hand picked the people and information to be included on the list. The lawyer, if I remember correctly, was Roy Cohn. None other than Sen. Joe Mccarthy's own lawyer.

If anyone has any more information or corrections to this, please let me know. This has bothred me since I heard it and have not been able to find anything more on the subject.
