Flock of Dodos
The Evolution-Intelligent Design Circus

Meet a few on the Kansas state school board, the Dover local school board and supporters/defenders of the science/religion debate in the headlines.

Enjoyable 1 1/2 hour. Some of those intelligent designers are not the evil know it alls I like to picture them as. Oh well. The evolutionists at the card table playing poker was a bit eye-opening. 7 Phds exploring the reasons evolution does not persuade the anti evolutionists. They discussed at the poker table how they get NSF grants and how to get those there must be no mention of evolution in their reports. Others there said since they were getting the money so that was no problem. Huh? Money talks?

The question came up as to what slogan the evolution advocates could have for their position. The theists have evolved from "creation science" to "intelligent design" to now "Teach the Controversy."

I saw this on Showtime. There was a subsequent protest from fundies for Showtime even showing the film which I found odd. After all, Atheists didn't complain about The Passion of the Christ. Dodos may have aired 8 or 10 times and hasn't been back. It's not bad really. Humorous in all the right places. I should get a copy to show at our Atheist of Utah meeting.

As for teaching the controversy, actually I'm all for that. Of course that would be in Civics class, not Science.

I missed viewing it at the skeptics(REALL) meeting in Springfield last tuesday. But borrowed it this weekend.

Schools should teach critical thinking exclusively at each grade level at least one hour a week. Teach basic logic. Heck I'd be happy with a thinking class. That is where to teach the controversy. But yours is clearly the most realistic there Phrog. I never had civics but I'm thinking of it as the social studies I had. Still, in science, teach science.

The great desire of the masses that someone care for them is being pandered to by the politician thugs and gangsters. I see more of this socialism not less in the future. This, then, is just another level from the "God will take care of and watch over me", type of thinking that results.
