I'll be attending a debate Sunday Does God Exist?
I know Dr. Keller who will take the Atheists side. He does well in these debates although the last one he did with the same opponent the god botherers claimed victory. They are so oblivious.
The Deseret News has a pretty good article on the event.

Sez Dr Keller:

"I think people like Mark should be intellectually honest and say, 'I believe in God, and it's not rational,"' he says. "If there really was a God-like being, I would be happy to accept that, because I want the truth. That's what led me down the path to atheism. If there is a God, I want evidence. I want good arguments, and they don't exist."

I like Dr. Keller.

I like him too from what you have just said ^^.

I agree with what he said, I want the truth even though the truth can hurt. I'd rather have that than blind hope. Or another way I'd rather have the truth than be happy (and at the moment I have neither :))

Well the debate was interesting to say the least. Dr Hausen had a bit smoother of a presentation, perhaps years at the podium preaching brings that to the forfront. Thing is, the agreed upon format was to prove the Abrahamic God as the god in question. Hausen used the first cause argument, big surprize there. His failing was to tie that to the god of Abraham. Keller disposed of that post haste. I'll need to get with someone that took notes, there was way too much to take in. The audience questions took up an hour and they had to cut 'em off or they could have gone all night. In the end, I doubt anyone attending was swayed to the opposing opinion and indeed that was not the goal. I always find more entertainment value in events lie this than just about anything else you can mention, well short of a visit to the Mustang Ranch....
